Hampton Roads has a long-standing reputation for warmly welcoming members of the U.S. military services who relocate here when assigned to area bases.
Senior Services is honored to have the assistance of these brave men and women who so often reciprocate this warm welcome by volunteering their time and talents to help those in need.
Senior Services offers many opportunities for military volunteers to give of their time and talents. Here are just a few:
- Delivering meals to homebound seniors and persons with disabilities (Home-Delivered Meals)
- Painting seniors’ apartments in Norfolk, in collaboration with Norfolk Housing and Redevelopment
- Visiting Senior Centers to help serve communal meals, play games, and help with special events, such as holiday celebrations
- Training to become Chronic Disease Self-Management and Diabetes Self-Management class leaders
